New Samsung TL500 Point & Shoot gives Panasonic’s LX3 and Canon’s S90 a run for its money

I caught wind of this rumour only a week or so back. Samsung might be releasing a new advanced point & shoot with a very fast (F/1.8) and wide (24mm) lens and most of the manual controls of a DSLR. Well, true to their word, here it is. The TL500. It also features a 3″ high res, swivel, LCD display! Compared to the Panasonic LX3 (it too sports a 24mm lens, but at F2.0), this camera has it beat. The win might be short lived, however, since Panasonic is also rumoured to be replacing their LX3 with a new model within the next month. This sort of camera would make a good second camera for those times you don’t want to lug around a big DSLR.  You can read the Samsung press release at dpreivew.com, if you’re interested.
