Scarborough Mission

Here’s a photo of the Scarborough Mission building on Kingston Rd. and Brimley Rd. in Scarborough. There is this huge field in front of the main building and I figured if I was lucky the setting sun would paint the entire building face a nice shade of orange. The sunset didn’t entirely cooperate, but I’m still happy with the photo. I think this is the first photo where I had a vision in my head of what I was hoping to catch before I left to take the photograph.

Very nice and well executed, Dave.
Brings back memories: My younger brother attended the High School right beside…

    Yes, Cardinal Newman…
And the Scarborough Bluffer’s Park id right down there, a short walk away: Lots of photo opportunities…

I didn’t make it to Bluffer’s Park but it was on my mind. Because the bluff face is so closed to the waterfront, I’m not sure how I’d shoot it.

Once there you’ll know, it’ll come to you.
The area is beautiful, a photographic Pandora Box, if you pay attention to details.
I had the pleasure of having 40 of my photographs exhibited in the offices of the Bluffer’s Park Conservation Committee in June 2007.
They were part of a project I developed about the Lake Ontario Coastline from Pickering to Centre Island. I included the Bluffs, and the Rosetta Botanic Gardens down Kingston Rd.
    Lots of fun.
I wish I knew you back then, I would have surely invited you..
