Canon PowerShot S90 sample photo gallery

PowerShot-S90

If you’ve followed my blog you know I’m fond of advanced compact cameras, particularly the Panasonic DMC-LX3. In a scant few weeks Canon will release a direct competitor to the LX3, the Canon PowerShot S90. It has many of the same features and the same sensor as the new Canon PowerShot G11. Now here’s the interesting part. Last year the Canon G10 employed the same sized sensor as this year’s G11 and S90, but with over 14 megapixels. This year Canon has dropped the resolution on the new G11 and S90 to around 10 megapixels, while maintaining the same size sensor! Why is that important? The sensor should be far more sensative and therefore better in low light conditions. Of course, we’ll only know once we see some full reviews with sample photos. Fortunately, dpreview.com has posted some sample photos taken with the new PowerShot S90. If you’re interested in this camera, you’ll definitely want to have a look. You can view dpreview.com’s S90 photo gallery here.

It looks good, but it is not in original size. So I can’t really conclude about the image quality just yet.

Hmmm… I thought they also included original sized jpeg versions on their site? Could be wrong.
